Dr. Shepherd Bushiri (Major 1) Planted a Prophetic Seed, Laid a New Foundation and Elevated Los Angeles During a Prophetic Conference in Hollywood, California

From April 5th to April 6th, 2018, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri (Major 1) (https://www.facebook.com/shepherdbushiriministries), Founder and President of the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Church, the world’s fastest growing church, has prophetically shaken Los Angeles during a conference / revival organized in the Ray Dolby Ballroom at the renowned Dolby Theatre located at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard, in Los Angeles, the most populous city in California. Originally planned to take place at The Forum in Inglewood, the venue of that conference was upgraded to the Dolby Theatre formerly known as the Kodak Theatre, a world’s premier auditorium for dance shows, entertainment, musicals, opera, prominent television and award events, symphony performances, and top live-performances in Hollywood, the home of the US film industry.

Several world-renowned artists such as Adele (Adele Laurie Blue Adkins), Alicia Keys (Alicia Augello Cook), Andrea Bocelli, Andy (Andranik Madadian), Barry Manilow, Beyoncé (Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter), Celine Dion, Charice (Jake Zyrus), Christina Aguilera, David Jon Gilmour, Dixie Chicks, Elissa (Elissar Zakaria Khoury), Elvis Costello (Declan Patrick MacManus), Googoosh (Faegheh Atashin), Ian Scott Anderson, Joe Bonamassa, Leila Forouhar, Mariah Carey, Neil Young, Philipp Kirkorov (Philipp Bedrosovich Kirkorov), Prince (Prince Rogers Nelson), Shadmehr Aghili, Shohreh Solati, Siavash Ghomayshi, The Corrs, The New Power Generation, Vanilla Ice (Robert Matthew Van Winkle), etc. have performed at that Dolby Theatre. Since its opening in 2001, the Dolby Theatre has hosted several top ceremonies including the Academy Awards also known as the Oscars which honor excellent achievers in cinematic under the leadership of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. However, none of those events had a significant impact on lives and on the city as the prophetic conference just led by Major One, the first Black to be nominated to receive the prestigious “Honorary US Citizenship” given to only 8 people of exceptional merit since 1776.

Indeed, during the conference, Major 1, the richest minister in the world and one of the “Most Influential Contemporary African Diaspora Leaders” http://AfricanDiasporaLeaders.com/ShepherdBushiri, announced that God sent him to lay a new foundation in Los Angeles. He said that God showed him a vision and God said “I am about to change the City of Los Angeles”. The #1 Major Prophet of all time said that the Lord told him that, in the next three years, a revival is going to shake Los Angeles. Therefore, where many have often gathered from all over the world to be entertained by famous Hollywood celebrities, thousands have gathered in the same venue instead to partake into the prophetic movement, worship, honor, and experience life-changing encounters with the God of Major 1, the God of Miracles and Wonders.

During the first day of the event, Major 1, one of the youngest billionaires in the world (http://shepherdbushiriinvestments.com), preached and prophesied to many people. His message focused on the hand of God and how He stretched it. When God stretches out His hand, He wants to touch and/or bless somebody. In Isaiah 65, God stretched out His hand to a rebellious people who might have not even been aware that God wanted to bless them. Similarly, God still stretches out His hand today over some people deemed unworthy to bless them. However, as Major 1 (https://www.psbministries.international) explained to the crowd, God’s hand is not short that He can’t touch people, but sin and most often the lack of knowledge hinder Him.

One the second day of the conference, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, PhD, prayed for and laid hands on everyone in attendance one by one. Afterwards, miracles rained, people witnessed the touch of God, several people were instantly healed from incurable diseases, and countless people came in front to testify. For instance, a lady who could not walk and was using a wheelchair for 15 years began walking on her own immediately after Major 1 laid hands on her. Overcome with great emotion, that woman could not even talk or explain how she felt; all she could do was to demonstrate the healing power of the God of Major 1. A man to whom Major 1, PhD, prophesied the first night of the conference stepped forward the second night to testify of his overnight miracle. For years, that man had been suffering from extreme insomnia in such a way that he could not sleep at all. Day or night, he could never catch any sleep or peace of mind. But after Dr. Major 1 prayed for him, he was delivered and that same night, he slept like a baby for the first time in years. Countless miracles happened during the two-day Prophetic Conference and some of them were captured in these videos:

Video of Day 1 of the Prophetic Conference with Major 1 on April 5th, 2018

Video of Day 2 of the Prophetic Conference with Major 1 on April 6th, 2018

Some of the members of the African delegation which accompanied Prophet Shepherd Bushiri to the conference were:

On his return to Africa, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, the spiritual son of Prophet Uebert Angel (https://www.uebertangel.org), testified that the Los Angeles Prophetic Conference was a huge success. He appreciated the great work that the stewards of the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Church in America (www.ecgministries.org) are doing under the leadership of Mr. Brian Ngambi, the National Pastor of ECG America based in Washington DC (www.facebook.com/ecgwashingtondc).

Los Angeles, the La-la-land, the Entertainment Capital of the World, has hosted major events including the Olympics and other prominent ceremonies indeed, but it probably has never been impacted by a prophetic shift as what just happened. Moreover, several historic religious events can be connected to Los Angeles. For instance, at the beginning of the 20th century, it was in Los Angeles that the historic Azusa Street Revival (1906-1915) which birthed the Pentecostalism movement took place. Led by Evangelist William J. Seymour (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_J._Seymour), an African American preacher, that revival began like a small revival meeting in 1906, but it became the origin of the modern-day Pentecostal movement, and the main “catalyst for the spread of Pentecostalism in the last century”. Let’s not forget that, at the beginning of the Azusa Street Revival, its leader, William J. Seymour, was about 34 years old, which seems not much different from Major1’s physical age. Although many people did not believe in the one-eyed pastor William J. Seymour, a descendant of enslaved Africans, a man of God who endured a lot of problems in his life during a period when the “Jim Crow” racial segregation laws were at their height in the United States, God powerfully anointed and used him in a supernatural way that, even some of his accusers including many racist people who opposed him for the fact that such a global movement could start with a black person, had to confess and follow God. Evangelist William J. Seymour “would tell the audience to sing in the Spirit and then, fire would come up out of the roof, go through the roof, go up about fifty feet in the air and a fire about fifty feet away from it in the sky would come down and mingle with it. While the fire was ablaze, many miracles happened“. People could even see the fire from outside. Not knowing it was the fire of God’s Glory, many people outside called the Los Angeles Fire Department on different occasions to come extinguish the fire.

Many churches originated from the Azusa Street Revival including the Church of God in Christ (led by Black People), the Assemblies of God (led by White people who split from the Blacks of the Church of God in Christ), Church of God, International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, Pentecostal Assemblies, Pentecostal Church of God, Pentecostal Holiness Church, etc. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azusa_Street_Revival). The Azusa Street Revival held the record of the biggest miracles in the history of America. In 1909, William J. Seymour prophesied that the next greatest revival, even greater than the Azusa Street Revival, will occur in about 100 years! This should shock any alert follower of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri (Major 1), whose ministries started growing at a historic remarkable record after he moved to Pretoria, South Africa, in 2015, which is exactly 100 years after the end of the Azuza Street Revival. Surely, the prophecy of Major 1 about the incoming revival in Los Angeles confirms that announced by William J. Seymour about the same city approximately 100 years ago.

Therefore, recalling this history, the reader of this article must be watchful, thoughtful, and prayerful about what is about to happen in Los Angeles, charismatically nicknamed the “City of Angels”, as a Major Prophet in the caliber of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri (Major 1), the Prophet who Speaks with God Face to Face like Moses, the Prophet Who Works with Angels and Archangels all the Time, the Prophet Who Walks in the Air, the Fearless General who can Kill Any Demon, the Prophet Who Calls Fire from Heaven and it Comes Down Physically right away like Elijah did, the Prophet Who Speaks to Dead Human Beings and Animals and They Instantly Come Back to Life, stand on the same stage that the famous celebrities in the world receive their renowned Oscar Award and declared that, “a prophetic seed has been planted in L.A. and the revival has begun”. Los Angeles, the second most populous city in the United States after New York City will never be the same again as it will surely experience historic angelic activities very soon and be better known for its prophetic name, Angeltown, City of Angels, that the Spanish who founded the city gave to it.

Are you ready for the end time prophetic movement under the leadership of young prophets (https://www.youtube.com/user/propheticchannelTv) foretold by Prophet Joel hundreds of years before Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World, was physically born?

Prophet Dr. Shepherd Bushiri (Major 1), First Black to Receive the Prestigious “Honorary US Citizenship” Given to Only 8 People of Exceptional Merit Since 1776

While testifying on February 25, 2018 at the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Church, the biggest church in Africa also ranked as the world’s #1 fastest growing church, Prophet Dr. Shepherd Bushiri (Major 1), informed his millions of followers that, he has been nominated to receive the Honorary US Citizenship Award and very soon, a ceremony will be held for that purpose.

For any well-informed person who is Black or who is a friend of the people of African descent, this historic award deserves celebration. Indeed, the United States of America has 2 main paths to citizenship:

  • birthright citizenship, in which any person born in the USA, or born abroad to a US citizen, is declared a citizen, and
  • naturalization, in which an immigrant is granted citizenship after applying for it and meeting certain requirements (e.g. biometric screenings, interviews, tests, and oaths).

The honorary citizenship of the United States is a highest award granted usually to a “non-United States citizen of exceptional merit, by an Act of Congress or by a proclamation issued by the President of the United States, pursuant to authorization granted by Congress”.

Unlike native citizens and naturalized citizens of the US which have certain rights, duties and benefits, honorary citizenship is not attached to any known unclassified rights, privileges and duties. It does not require an oath. For instance, Honorary US citizens are ineligible for US official or diplomatic passports. However, according to the US Government, “honorary citizenship is and should remain an extraordinary honor not lightly conferred nor frequently granted”.

Since its independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain on July 4, 1776 until 2017, the United States of America has granted the Honorary US Citizenship to only 8 people. Six of these honorees received the award posthumously, some of them more than 200 years after their death, and two received it during their lifetime:

Each of these honorees has significantly impacted the US and / or the world:

  • Sir Winston Churchill (30 November 1874 – 24 January 1965), the first person to receive such an honor, was a prime minister of the United Kingdom and a loyal American ally during World War II.

  • Raoul Wallenberg (4 August 1912, death date unknown), a businessman, Swedish diplomat, who rescued tens of thousands of Jews from the Holocaust during which six million European Jews were systematically murdered during World War II. Raoul Wallenberg himself was arrested and imprisoned by the Soviets in 1945, but until today, what happened to him and how he died is still unknown although the Soviets claimed that he died in 1947.

  • William Penn (14 October 1644 – 30 July 1718) and his second wife Hannah Callowhill Penn (11 February 1671 – 20 December 1726) were respectively the founder and administrator of the Province of Pennsylvania, the state where the United States Declaration of Independence was adopted. The State of Pennsylvania was named after their last name, Penn.

  • Mother Teresa (26 August 1910 – 5 September 1997), an Albanian-Indian, Roman Catholic nun and missionary, was known for her charitable works with the poor in Calcutta (India) and across the globe.

  • Marquis de Lafayette (6 September 1757 – 20 May 1834), was a French general who served as an officer in the American Revolutionary War (1775 – 1783) also known as the American War of Independence. He significantly caused France to help the US’ colonies against Great Britain. He was a great ally of Thomas Jefferson (2 or 13 April 1743 – July 4, 1826), an American Founding Father and the principal author of the Declaration of Independence and the third President of the US from 1801 to 1809.

  • Casimir Pulaski (4 or 6 March 1745 – October 11, 1779) was a notable Polish politician and military officer who fought and died for the US against the British during the American Revolutionary War in a way that he was nicknamed “The Father of the American Cavalry”.

  • Bernardo de Gálvez (25 July 1746 – 30 November 1786), a Spaniard general, governor of Louisiana, who risked his life to free the Americans by providing supplies, intelligence, and military support during the American Revolutionary War to the point that George Washington (22 February, 1732 – December 14, 1799), the first President of the United States (from 1789 to 1797) and one of the Founding Fathers of the US, considered him as “a deciding factor in the outcome of the Revolutionary War,”

Considering the status and impact of the people who were granted the honorary citizenship of the United States, it is obvious that this impressive honor is a proof of the historic impact that Prophet Dr. Shepherd Bushiri (https://www.facebook.com/shepherdbushiriministries) is having in the world. Details of the services he provided for the US to deserve this prestigious honor at his young age may be classified and never revealed. However, some public records exist about his success in business and in ministry.

His success in business has been applauded throughout the world. He has invested a lot in the US and many other countries. In February 2018 alone, he invested $450 US million in the US economy. As of 2017, his business, Shepherd Bushiri Investments (SBI), which employs more than 10,000 people, has several entities (e.g. SB Hotels, SB Mining, SB Telecommunications, SB Beverages and SB Airways), has an asset worth more than $1.2 US billion, and has been strangely surging and growing at a very fast rate that defied projections. In February 2018, he received a Business Excellence Award (Person of the Year 2017) and was inducted in “Africa’s CEOS Hall of Fame” by the prestigious African Leadership Magazine.

His family, The Bushiri Family, has been ranked one of the 10 Africa’s most affluent families (https://www.africa.com/most-affluent-families). He is the only Malawian in the Dubai Top Ten of doing business well from Africa. Major 1 is the youngest man in the world owning four private jets, 27 gold mines, two diamond mines and other treasures that space and time do not allow to detail here. Since he relocated to South Africa three years ago, he is the only person who has been consistently filling up above its capacity the FNB Stadium, Africa’s largest stadium, since its opening in 1989. In 2016, he was featured in a book that honored the “Most Influential Contemporary African Diaspora Leadershttp://AfricanDiasporaLeaders.com/shepherdbushiri.

He authored several books and is a personal council to numerous Presidents and leaders around the world. He is also known for his massive charitable activities.

His impact goes beyond the Christian communities where he is known as the founder of the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Church, the number one mega church in Africa. In his third year in South Africa, his church in that country alone has over 2000 home cells and over 400 branches, with more than 5000 branches worldwide. He also has many church branches and home cells in several states in the US (http://www.ecgministries.org). In 2017 alone, his church recorded over 800,000 people that gave their lives to Jesus through his ministries (http://www.psbministries.international). The greatest prophet of all time preaches more than three times per week to hundreds of thousands of people who attend his mega church at Pretoria Showgrounds. His TV channel, Prophetic Channel TV  (https://www.youtube.com/user/propheticchannelTv) broadcasts to more than 40 million viewers across the world in English, French and Spanish.

It should not be surprising that he is called:

  • Major 1
  • The Most Influential Contemporary Prophet in the World,
  • The Most Anointed Prophet Since Adam and Eve,
  • The Richest Minister in the Whole World,
  • The Prophet of the Prophets,
  • The World’s #1 Major Prophet of the Major Problems,

Major One always says that his achievements are “not because he is intelligent or clever, but because of the Grace of God”. As the leader of the contemporary prophetic movement, spoken by prophets thousands of years ago, is receiving one of the highest honors in the world at a very young age and at a time that all well-informed analyses point to an imminent end of the world, it is important that the reader of this article ponders on his stand with God and really ensure he or she is ready to meet the Creator of all things if the world ends now. Are you ready? Do you believe in the God of Major 1? If not, you better get ready for God, Almighty God, Alpha and Omega, Author and Perfecter of Our Faith, Bread of Life, Chief Cornerstone, Deliverer, Emmanuel, Everlasting Father, Faithful and True, God of Israel, Good Shepherd, Great High Priest, Head of the Church, I Am, King of Kings, King of the Jews, Lamb of God, Light of the World, Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Lord, Lord of All, Mediator, Messiah, Mighty God, One Who Sets Free, Prince of Peace, Redeemer, Resurrection and the Life, Risen Lord, Rock of Ages, Sacrifice for Our Sins, Savior, Son of David, Son of Man, Son of the Most High, Supreme Creator Over All, The Door, The Life, The Truth, The Way, The Word, Victorious One, Wonderful Counselor, …, The God of Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, The God of Prophet Victor Kusi Boateng, The God of Prophet Uebert Angel, and the God of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri – Major 1, … is coming back very soon.

Prophet Brave Mkandawire: One of the Young African Prophets Shaking the Nations

For centuries, western missionaries travelled to Africa to share the Word of God with the Africans. However, in recent years, because of the prophetic movement that is shaking Africa under the leadership of God’s Major Generals such as Prophet Shepherd Bushiri also known as Major 1 (from Malawi but based in South Africa), Prophet Uebert Angel (from Zimbabwe but living in the UK), Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin (from Nigeria), etc., countless people across the globe have been traveling to Africa, just to visit and receive prayers from true great prophets. Besides the major prophets mentioned above, several other young prophets are emerging in Africa and are shaking the world like never seen before since the creation of the world. This article presents Prophet Brave Chiswamtawa Mkandawire (https://www.facebook.com/brave.cmkandawire), one of these young African prophets doing wonders.

Prophet Brave Mkandawire
Prophet Brave Mkandawire

Brave Mkandawire was born in Mzuzu, the hometown of Major 1, in Malawi. He did not believe in God until he was 14. Indeed, thirteen years ago (in 2005), while he was smoking coming out of a restaurant in his hometown, he met a certain man of God by the name of Prophet Bernard Silungwe, who told him that he should stop what he was doing because God has called him as a Prophet. He accepted the call, gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ that same day, and started preaching that same year. To help him grow in the Lord, Prophet Bernard Silungwe connected him immediately to Apostle Joseph Binala Lusale (https://www.facebook.com/binala.lusale), who then became his spiritual father / mentor. Apostle Joseph Binala Lusale is the Founder of the “Glory of God International Ministries” in Malawi. According to the testimony of Prophet Brave Mkandawire, “Apostle Lusale is a great man of God whom God has entrusted into raising ministers. In Malawi, a lot of men and women of God have been highly impacted with his teaching ministry”. Apostle Lusale is a friend of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri (https://www.facebook.com/shepherdbushiriministries) and one of the first men of God who believed very early in the prophetic ministry of Major 1. Apostle Lusale even ministered many times during live services at Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Church in Pretoria, where hundreds of thousands of Christians meet every week to listen to the words of Major 1, the richest and sharpest prophet of all time.

Two weeks after being born again, Brave Mkandawire started prophesying. The anointing upon him was so strong that about three years later (in 2008), he founded his own ministry: “Fountain Of Peace Ministries International”. Those days, he was studying at Luwinga Secondary School, where he managed to turn almost the whole school to Jesus. He was the main Christian reader at the campus and was well known by the teachers and students in Mzuzu. While still serving the Lord, he managed to graduate from that high school (Class of 2009). In 2014, he followed the divine instruction to relocate to Windhoek, the capital and largest city of the Republic of Namibia.

So far, Prophet Brave has managed to open two branches in Malawi (one in Mzuzu City and another one in Lilongwe City), two ministerial branches in Namibia (in Rundu Town and in Windhoek City), one branch in Cape Town, South Africa. His ministries have impacted lives beyond the borders of Africa and he has preached in several countries including:

  • Botswana
  • Malawi
  • Mozambique
  • Namibia
  • South Africa
  • Swaziland
  • Tanzania
  • USA
  • Zambia
  • Zimbabwe
  • etc.

Several signs and wonders have been following his ministries:

  • the lame have walked
  • the eyes have opened for the blind
  • chronic diseases (e.g. HIV / AIDS, Tuberculosis, Cancer) were healed
  • miracle money and miracle debt cancellation occur very often
  • people have gotten instant promotions
  • possessed people were delivered from witchcraft, demons and curses
  • bareness has been destroyed and many women have conceived
  • instant marital breakthroughs have taken place many times
  • instant business breakthroughs were received
  • drunks and smokers were delivered and converted into men and women of God
  • prostitutes were delivered and turned into worshippers
  • less privileged (e.g. orphans, widows and the fatherless) received assistance
  • dead people were raised to life
  • etc.

His real concern about the ongoing prophetic movement is that, “some people have turned its gear from setting people free from bondages, revealing Jesus Christ to the Nations of the World, rebuking sin and pointing people to salvation and righteousness to entertainment, which is never the will of God”. He believes that “God has entrusted his ministry and calling to contribute in putting order in the prophetic movement”. He hopes to open branches everywhere across the globe. In 2018, he has scheduled crusades in a lot of African countries like Angola, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, etc. Prophet Brave Mkandawire is happily married to Selma Mkandawire and, so far, they have a daughter, Princess Mkandawire. To contact Prophet Brave Mkandawire, please visit his Facebook at  https://www.facebook.com/brave.cmkandawire.

As we are learning more about the contemporary prophetic revolution, let’s not forget that, about 900-800 years before Jesus Christ, Prophet Joel prophesied that: “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams…” (Acts 2:17 / Joel 2: 28). For a long time, prophecy has not been the specialty of young men, but of old people. Most of the major prophets in the Bible (e.g. Elijah, Moses, Isaiah, Ezekiel, etc.) did not prophecy in their young age, but in their old age. For instance, Moses was 80 years before starting his prophetic journey that delivered the Israelites from their bondage in Egypt. Therefore, the emergence of the prophetic revolution in Africa (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/user/propheticchannelTv/videos) under the leadership of young prophets is a warning and confirmation sign that, we are really living in the last days foretold thousands of years ago. Are you ready to meet your Maker / Creator, the Savior of the World, Jesus Christ? Otherwise, you better believe and give your life to Him today before it becomes too late.

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s Son Walking in the Shoes of his Father at a Prophetic Conference in Utah (USA)

Apostle Felixosis Huios Nabi Navira, the leader of ECG Church in America.
Apostle Felixosis, the leader of ECG Church in America.

For several decades, Africa was the continent that received European and American missionaries. However, it is just recently that Africa started sending missionaries abroad. In a rare prophetic move, the renowned Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, Major 1, founder of the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Church, sent his son, the Malawian Apostle Felixosis Huios Nabi Navira, to lead ECG Church in America. Although based in Portland, Maine, this Apostle has been reaching out to other states in the US to share the Gospel. On March 31st and April 1st, 2017, Apostle Felixosis Huios (https://www.facebook.com/huios.felixosis) held a powerful prophetic conference in Utah (USA).

During this two day conference, the crowd was astounded by the prophecies and the miracles that the God of Major 1 did through the Apostle. For instance, after a prayer by this minister, some people who were deaf began to hear immediately. Other people attending the conference received miracle money right after prayer during the live service. One lady received $1,000 and another $520 as a sign of what is to come. Two women had one leg shorter than the other, but after the prayer of the man of God, their legs became even. Attending the event was a nine year old boy who was born normal, but who lost his vision and became blind at the age of three. Right after Apostle Felixosis Huios prayed for this boy, he recovered his sight as his eyes opened instantly. Several attendees of the conference were astonished by the miracles because they had never seen anything like that before.

Those who have been following the prophetic revolutionary revival that is shaking South Africa under the leadership of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, Ph.D., know that the God of Major One is showcasing His power and is speaking today in an unusual way as never seen before (https://www.youtube.com/user/propheticchannelTv). It is a well-established fact and truth that Prophet Shepherd Bushiri (Major 1, PhD) is being mightily used by God in the prophetic, miracles, healings, business, and many other types of wonders. Dr. Major 1 has several sons and daughters across the globe. So far, the last born son of Major 1 (Apostle Felixosis Huios Nabi Navira) has been growing the ECG Church in Portland, Maine, and its members at a high speed that is testifying that he is really a son of the undeniable Major Prophet who has been breaking records including his performances in business (http://shepherdbushiriinvestments.com), teaching, prophecy, philanthropy, networking, mentoring, prosperity, wealth production and accumulation across the globe, etc. For instance, in less than three years, ECG Pretoria, South Africa, which was founded by Major 1, Ph.D., in 2015, grew from just a few members to more than 100 thousand members without counting the millions of followers who watch his services on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/shepherdbushiriministries), YouTube, phone application (e.g. Bushiri Buzz https://www.facebook.com/bushiribuzz) and his TV (Prophetic Channel TV), etc. Major1, the world’s richest minister, is also one of the youngest billionaires in the world. He was honored as one of the “Most Influential Contemporary African Diaspora Leaders” (http://africandiasporaleaders.com/shepherdbushiri). Seeing the miracles and the steps that Apostle Felixosis is taking, under the anointing and mentoring of his father Major1, it will not be surprising that very soon, ECG America will make the national news.

As one of the “Christian nations” on earth, the US is blessed to finally have an Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Church branch. The time has come for Africa to send more missionaries like Apostle Felixosis Huios Nabi Navira to the western nations, where Christianity is sometimes attacked and threatened because of the growing number of worldly philosophies that tend to raise human knowledge and theories above the Word of God, which will never disappear although heaven and earth will pass away very soon. As ECG America grows and is better known by more people in US, more Americans will certainly partake in the grace that is working for the Major Prophet Dr. Shepherd Bushiri. Seeing how ECG is shaking Africa, its continent of birth, there is no doubt that, under the leadership of Major1, ECG America is going to positively shake the US very soon and bring forth the revival that many ministers have been praying for. As the Americans are awaiting this prophetic revival and financial revolution in their land, where great men of God like Evangelist Billy Graham, Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke, Bishop T. D. Jakes, Pastor John Kilpatrick, Evangelist Morris Nathan, etc., have faithfully preached the Good News, it is worth thanking God and noticing that Apostle Felixosis Huios Nabi Navira and the partners of ECG America are off to a great start. ECG Church in Portland Maine, is located at: 1844 Forest Avenue, Portland, Maine, 04103 (USA).

Next President of Benin Republic prophesied and anointed by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri (aka Major1) on 6 Nov 2016

Two days before the Americans elected their new President, Mr. Donald Trump, the next president of Benin Republic (West Africa) was prophesied on Sunday November 6, 2016, during a live service in Pretoria, South Africa, by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri (aka Major1), the spiritual son a Prophet Uebert Angel, the one who accurately prophesied the election of Mr. Trump many months before it came to pass! Prophet Shepherd Bushiri (Major1) and his son Apostle Felix Huios Nabi Navira also prophesied the election of Mr. Trump many months before it happened.

God told me to anoint this man,” said Major1 as he pointed out the man from the crowd.  The prophet said that the man has contested in elections before, but the elections did not go in his favor. He revealed that his failure had been because it was the wrong timing. Major 1 said that God wants the man to serve Him this year and next year first, then he will be President of Benin. Finally, he pronounced a blessing and indicated that all the battles will be turned to victory.

They will not succeed because your calling is not from man but from God. I am going to anoint you so that even if they steal votes from you, God will give you miracle votes,” said the man of God, adding that, “I am seeing this man as President. He will change Benin and in his reign, his country will be as established as Dubai”, concluded Major 1.

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri (Major 1) and Prophet Uebert Angel are two of “The Most Influential Contemporary African Diaspora Leaders” recently featured in a book written by Dr. Roland Holou. I am posting this prophecy and the pictures of the future president of Benin, 5 years before it happens, as a witness so that when it happens, people may believe! Major1 said that if that prophecy about Benin does not come to pass, he is a fake prophet. Let’s wait and see the outcome in 2021 when the election will be done! I believe 100% this will come to pass and Benin will be the Dubai of Africa just as Major1 prophesied! Those who know Major1 know that this prophecy is not a joke, but will surely come to pass! By the way, Major1 already prophesied many presidents and they all came to pass. This one about Benin Republic is the first that he publicly made. I am so interested in this prophecy because, among many things, I, Dr. Roland Holou,  was born and raised in Benin Republic before I moved to the USA many years ago. I have been a passionate follower of Major1 and I even managed to travel from the USA to South Africa in 2015, just to meet him one on one! If there was a day of Elijah, today, we are  living in the days of Major1 (Prophet Shepherd Bushiri).

The Global Volunteering Platform That Involves The International Diaspora

Volunteering has become an interesting part of people’s lives. While some volunteering  jobs may be for humanitarian purposes, others have a business potential. It is delightful for someone to volunteer at a place of his or her interest. When people volunteer, not only do they bless themselves, but they also solve other’s problems that may stay unsolved otherwise.

Unfortunately, countless people would like to volunteer but don’t know where they can find an opening in a town or country of their interest. At the same time, many organizations have volunteer openings, but they don’t know how and who to contact to get those jobs done. Particularly, many people travel for diverse reasons (missions, vacation, etc.) to other countries and would like to volunteer for a specific need, but they don’t know who to contact or how to provide that service. There is a gap of information and collaboration between people willing to volunteer and the persons or institutions that will receive those services.

In addition to advocating for their country, the global diaspora can play a crucial role in solving this problem. The diasporas have the chance to live and experience life abroad. They know a lot of new things that the people in their home country do not know. Consequently, the potential of the diaspora needs to be harvested to empower the development of their nations. In other words, volunteering should play a big part in diaspora engagement efforts. Up to today, a very few platforms openly provide that kind of service worldwide in a win-win framework. Consequently, many opportunities of volunteering are missed because they are hidden from the public or they are tagged with complex financial strategies or interests. This situation is contributing to the poverty of many people and nations. A solution was needed!

DiasporaEngager is an global online site where anyone or any organization that wants, needs, or has a volunteer opening will register, search, find, and be able to contact volunteers and vice versa with opportunities in any areas of interest worldwide. DiasporaEngager is dedicated to improving the volunteering industry by allowing people to better use their talents to help themselves and those in need.

Seeking a job or wanting to recruit talented local and international applicants?

In our previous article, we tried to explain the unemployment problems of the diaspora and immigrants. We also explored what DiasporaEngager (the International Diaspora Engagement Platform) is doing to help solve those problems. Today, we will give more insights into other strategies the unemployed people and their countries can use to alleviate unemployment and put more people to work!

After someone gets a job, it is also important to keep it and perform it without much labor issues. Sometimes, diaspora members encounter discrimination problems related to age, race, gender, disability, religion, politics, … , for which they need professional assistance (e.g. legal services or counseling). DiasporaEngager connects people with legal professionals that can provide labor services.

Helping some qualified immigrants who want to return to their country of origin can help solve the unemployment problem. Unfortunately, it is difficult for the migrants or the diaspora to go back to their home countries which, usually, at their turn, are not taping into the huge potential of their own professionals living abroad!

Every country needs to start involving their diaspora in key sectors such as education, research, development. Those who have an education in science and technology can also use their knowledge to find and engage with opportunities in their current countries and also in their country of origin where those skills are oftentimes more needed. At the same time, volunteering must to be encouraged so, that even without pay, people can utilize their strength and talents to help others. For instance, the diaspora can volunteer their potential to advance their countries which they can also represent at strategic places abroad.

Seeking a job or trying to hire someone? Click here!

The joblessness problem can be alleviated if the diaspora can also provide their skills to their home countries in consulting and partnership. The sad observation is that many countries are not investing in their diaspora and worse, they are not taking advantage of the huge consulting potential of their international professionals living abroad!  Similarly, the international pundits and their home countries must design ways so that the diaspora can be strategically used to advocate for the development of their native nation. By doing so, the unemployment rate among the native and the immigrants can be significantly reduced, while knowledge more valued.

Last but not least, those who are living abroad need to be honest with their relatives who are still in their home country. Sometimes, many people move abroad seeking a better life that they never find because a relative or a friend abroad has given them false advice or information about career opportunities overseas. It is dangerous for the global diaspora to keep their own people in the darkness of the reality abroad. At the same time, it is very important for the diaspora and the immigrants to help each other in a way that those who have succeeded assist the new arrivals!

Why does Africa Weep and Deteriorate? Real Causes and Solutions to African Impoverishment

After decades of independence, economic development in African countries continues to lag behind. However, several models and ideologies of development have been applied. Are these ideologies and models inadequate in Africa’s specific case or are the real causes of Africa’s failures due to different factors? Considering the complex process of development, the answer to this question is not simple. In trying to find the real solution to the problem, the importance of identifying the source of poverty in Africa is very relevant.

In one of my books (A continent in tears: The origin of Africa’s collapse and how to reverse it), Dr Roland Holou thoroughly analyzed the real evils that undermine development in African countries. After reviewing the literature on Africa’s development and the misconduct of African officials, the importance of human resource and knowledge in the process of Africa’s development has been revealed. The in-depth analysis focused on the failures of the education systems, lack of thought, problems with intelligence and creativity, scientific research, negativity, rote learning(mechanically memorizing information without truly learning how to apply it), corruption, the mismanagement of Africa’s natural resources, reproduction, witchcraft, politics, trade unionism, ignorance, the African mentality, accountability, the awareness of Africans, corruption of foreign powers, the brain drain, and so on. Examples of elites that Africa needs are included as well.

Why does Africa Weep and Deteriorate?

Why does Africa Weep and Deteriorate?

Indeed, Africa suffers from an intellectual, demographic, and spiritual crisis. The decline of Africa is due not only to its poor management and governance, but also to the acts of evil inflicted upon the continent. From households to the very top of the state, Africans are faced with major challenges. Many Africans are afraid to think or do not want to think; many are afraid to speak, do not want to speak, or cannot speak; many are afraid to act or do not want to act; many leaders are corrupt and/or do not want to learn; many have knowledge but do not want to or cannot apply their knowledge; many religious figures are so attached to narrow visions that they have disregarded the management of cities and politics. Above all else, intellectuals are often spurned by those in charge. When certain individuals want to contribute to society or become something, they are suppressed and rejected. Many skills are scorned; great minds are rarely encouraged or heard. Though several politicians do have some skilled knowledge, recognized experts and skilled workers generally do not want to get involved in politics.

When dictators come to power, they do as they please; when politicians have power, they hardly listen to skilled workers; when skilled workers take power, they act as if everything is technical. Moreover, radical trade unionism and political opposition are destroying Africa. Many do not want to contribute to successful initiatives, preferring instead to advance their own interests. What’s worse is the erroneous African mentality that makes development and progress impossible. While skilled, able workers who could make a difference are out of work, lazy and unqualified individuals are promoted to important positions by their relatives in power. Meanwhile, the expenses of the “great” have robbed Africa of the little that is available, all to the detriment of the poor, “innocent” farmers who are dying under the afternoon sun. With the help of foreign powers and politicians, African officials have effectively beaten Africa down.

Moreover, in many education systems, diplomas are not always symbols of knowledge that will lead to positive action toward development. Indeed, Africans distribute and collect many useless degrees. Many graduates claim to be educated when in reality their credentials are a sham. Africa trains too many scholars—parrots whose heads are filled with useless theories and words—who are unproductive and ultimately do not contribute anything of value to society. There are very few exceptions to this rule. Meanwhile, uncontrolled reproduction is enhancing poverty and other problems pertaining to underdevelopment at a faster rate than preexisting problems can be solved. Indeed, polygamy and certain sexual perversions not only contribute to underdevelopment in Africa, but also to the culture of African destitution.

Additionally, African intellectuals are under the influence of spiritual factions that often impede efforts toward development. Unfortunately, the classic debates surrounding underdevelopment in Africa have always ignored the spiritual dimension of the problem. Undoubtedly, developed countries had advantages and other assets that aided them in their growth. These countries have had their Enlightenment period; great minds have worked to put these nations on the right path. Today, Africa’s best minds are afraid to even remain on the continent. Due to this massive brain drain, there are real problems pertaining to coordination, awareness, accountability, and intelligent, rational application of development strategies in African nations.

Real Causes and Solutions to African Impoverishment

Real Causes and Solutions to African Impoverishment

In an attempt to find a lasting solution to the impoverishment of Africa and to put the continent on the path to prosperity, Dr. Roland Holou (www.RolandHolou.com) has suggested pertinent and practical reforms in his book that should be initiated. This book provides anyone who is concerned with development in Africa valuable information and instruction on how to take action. The ideas proposed in this book could be applied to other continents as well, as these same issues occur outside of Africa.

Dual citizen of the USA and Benin Republic, Dr. Roland Holou has a doctorate in plant sciences, entomology, and microbiology. He is an agricultural engineer and a specialist in environmental development and management. He also holds a diploma in Rural Development and is the Founder and CEO of DiasporaEngager (www.DiasporaEngager.com), the world’s #1 diaspora engagement platform. How to Engage the Global Diaspora in Consulting Opportunities with their Country of Origin and Country of Residence

With the development of technologies and business opportunities, the increase of service to customers, the amount of information to analyze, and the increasing need to make the right decisions based on a variety of data, consulting is becoming a very important component in the workplace. Unfortunately, access to affordable and trustworthy consultants at the right time is not always easy. Similarly, many talented people would like to offer consulting services, but they don’t know where, how, and whom to contact.

Although in the case of countries affected by brain drain the need of native consultants is more appealing, it is very hard for people living in the diaspora to offer such a service to their home countries. At the same time, many organizations have consulting openings, but they don’t know how or who to contact to get those jobs done. Sometimes, because of a lack of the right fit, many consultations are done by less qualified people.

While the experts living in the diaspora are rarely used by their home countries for consulting, several foreign consultants are hired for the cause of those very countries. Unfortunately, those foreign consultants often lack the local knowledge which is required to appropriately elaborate certain policies, and they are often less qualified and more expensive than the diasporas. If the global diasporas can be better organized, they can be a very powerful instrument for consulting and development of the government, schools, businesses, and organizations in their home country as well as in their host country.

To fill the gap of information and collaboration between people willing to be consulted and the persons or institutions that will receive such services, DiasporaEngager aims at creating a free global consulting platform by using social media to bring together consulting customers and clients for collaboration, networking, business, entrepreneurship, and much more,  to develop people and nations.

With this platform, the world’s diasporas can be easily reached and used for consulting needs. This international platform significantly annuls the consulting fee and allows nations to find and use people that they can trust. If anyone needs a consultant for anything, he or she will just go online and search worldwide.

The global consulting platform (http://bit.ly/1rAX9cN) brings together consultants and clients for collaboration, networking, business, and entrepreneurship to develop people and nations. On this diaspora engagement site, people, businesses, organizations, institutions, and nations can create their profile and put online their expertise, profession, years of experience, location, and the cost of their service. If anyone needs a consultant for anything, he or she will just go to this platform online and search locally or internationally. The consultants can be contacted for specific needs pertaining to their region, expertise, and availability.

How to Help Immigrants and Diaspora to Return Back Home

In our previous article (Why Immigrants and Diasporas Cannot Easily Return Back Home), we discussed how difficult it is for immigrants and diaspora members to return back home. Today, we will explore some of the strategies DiasporaEngager is taking to help the diaspora and their people to return back home if needed.

DiasporaEngager aims at facilitating dialog and negotiations between the international diasporas and their countries. DiasporaEngager encourages governments affected by brain drain to create new programs to assist their diaspora to return home. Because the diaspora studied in a higher and more advanced system, a kind of positive discrimination (giving them special favors and benefits) needs to be created to distinguish them from their peers who stayed home. DiasporaEngager encourages the creation of a new type of non-profit (Non-Governmental Organization) to facilitate that type of investment. Expatriating immigrants,  closing borders, or granting work permits to the so called illegal immigrants cannot solve this migratory grand challenge.

DiasporaEngager provides an avenue to locate the parties interested in such opportunities and helps them to start the communication or partnership required to define the conditions and context of the return of qualified Diaspora members to their original country. People interested in returning back to their home country as well as the nations and organizations that would like to encourage that move should register an account on www.DiasporaEngager.com. The institutions or organizations in the home country should define the opportunities that they can provide so that the Diaspora can search and match their expectations with what is available in their home country. DiasporaEngager provides the environment to facilitate that dialog and works together with local and international agencies involved in migration, traveling, or development to harness any opportunities that can assist anyone in this transition.

The first platform that really help immigrants and diaspora to find opportunities to stay abroad or return back home.

DiasporaEngager:  The world’s #1 platform that really helps immigrants and diasporas to find opportunities to stay abroad or to return back home.

DiasporaEngager works with local business to hire diaspora members and to help them return to their home country to work for them. Companies in the diaspora’s host country can hire diaspora members and send them to work for them in their home country. After knowing the diaspora member’s work ethic, businesses in the host country of the diaspora can better trust not just the qualifications they hold, but also the confidence that can be put in them for the best interest of the business. Sometimes, many multinational companies would like to hire or subcontract with other international businesses, but because of a lack of knowing the culture and competency of other organizations abroad, it is more difficult. If the diasporas returning back home can be involved in this kind of international transaction they can be the bridge between the gap.

In the context of DiasporaEngager, the word Diaspora refers to anyone who, for any reasons, is living in a country or town that is not his or her place of origin or ancestry or the place s/he calls home. Some people may call them an immigrant, a stranger, or an alien. Some may argue that, most individuals can be remotely linked to a country of origin different from their current country of residence, and therefore, most of us are an alien, immigrant, or a Diaspora of somewhere. In the US for instance, except the native Indians, everyone else can be considered an alien or immigrant. Even in that case, the Indians themselves have had to migrate from somewhere before reaching the US.

The longer the duration of the stay of someone in a foreign land, the higher the likelihood that his or her descendants think that they (the descendants) are native of that place that their ancestry moved to long ago. That’s why, because they are not first, second, or third generation immigrants, many people easily forget that they are a stranger of what they call “our land”, and unfortunately treat the new immigrants like the “bad people” or like “those who are taking our lands or our country”, or like “those who don’t even speak our language well”, or like “those who don’t behave like us”. In reality, those new immigrants (new arrivals) are usually just trying to go through the obligatory survival and integration steps that the ancestors of those who are calling them “strangers” and who think they are native, did long ago.

DiasporaEngager is not a political organization which is trying to advocate for any particular immigration agenda. To make a long story short, regardless of where we are from and where we are living, let’s try to help each other to succeed in this life on this earth. We never know what bad weather will come tomorrow or what may cause us to move in the future. We don’t know what is awaiting our descendants which may choose to move out from where we are today to another place. We don’t even fully understand where we are coming from and what brought our ancestors to where we are today. If you want to join us in our efforts to help diaspora members globally, please register an account on www.DiasporaEngager.com

Address by Sir Hilary Beckles, chair of the CARICOM Reparations Commission to the NAARC’s Reparations Town Hall in Atlanta

Delivered by Don Rojas on behalf of Sir Hilary on June 11, 2016

Dr. Ron Daniels, President of the Institute of the Black World and Convenor of the National African American Reparations Commission (NAARC),

Cong. John Conyers,

Members of the Local Organizing Committee,

Members of the National African American Reparations Commission,

Sisters & Brothers,

Friends and Comrades.

Most historians, scholars and activists agree that the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and the institution of chattel slavery in the Americas in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries were without doubt the most heinous crimes against humanity in modern history.

These crimes have gone unpunished up to this day and justice for the millions of native people and the millions more of enslaved Africans who perished during these dark days has yet to be rendered.

The social, economic and psychological wounds of slavery have been passed on down through the generations; open wounds that remain raw and continue to fester.

Between the 16thand 19th centuries some 15 million captured Africans were shipped to the Caribbean, Latin America and North America on 36,000 slaving voyages. Millions more perished on the long and tortuous boat trips from Africa to the Americas.

The vast majority of the enslaved Africans were transported from major slave ports up and down the Western coast of Africa, from a vast region that today encompasses the countries of Senegal, the Gambia, the Republic of Guinea, Ghana, Benin, Nigeria and others.

Today, the realization is emerging that only a process of reparations can begin to fully heal these wounds. Repair, restitution and recompense for historical crimes is a profound moral obligation both on the parts of the perpetrators and the victims of these crimes and a revived movement for reparative justice is taking shape in the Caribbean and around the world where African people live and continue to struggle for their inalienable human rights and basic dignity.

Reparation is not just an issue of repaying the enormous debts owed to the descendants of enslaved Africans. Reparation is part and parcel of the global movements for racial justice, for social justice and for economic justice. It occupies a crucial space in the movement against growing income and wealth inequalities around the world, what President Barack Obama has described as “the defining issue of our time.”

This newly energized reparations movement is yet another manifestation of that spirit of resistance and willingness to fight for freedom that expressed itself in the numerous slave rebellions in the Caribbean and the USA during the times of slavery, from Sam Sharpe in Jamaica, to General Bussa in Barbados to Cuffy in Guyana to Nat Turner and Denmark Vescey in the USA.

The greatest and ultimately most successful of these slave rebellions in the Caribbean culminated in Haiti in 1804 with the victory by enslaved Africans who rose up and defeated the mighty armies of France, Spain and Britain and declared Haiti the first independent Black country in the Americas.

Echoes of a reparations movement could be found in different forms of Black struggle and resistance throughout the Americas in the 19th and 20th Centuries.

From the rise of the Garvey movement all across the African diaspora, to the Rastafarians and their relentless demand for reparations and repatriation back to their African motherland, to the struggle for independence in the Caribbean in the 1940s, 50s and 60s, to the civil rights and Black Liberation movements in North America and Europe, through Pan-African movement of the 20thCentury led by such luminaries as George Padmore, CLR James, Dr. Eric Williams, WEB DuBois, Paul Robeson, Queen Mother Moore, James Foreman to the civil and human rights struggles of Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X , Nelson Mandela, Patrice Lumumba, Tomas Sankara, Frantz Fanon, Bob Marley, Walter Rodney, Maurice Bishop etc, and now in the post-independence period of nation-building to cleaning up the royal mess left behind by our former slave masters.

Contrary to what we’re being told by some European leaders like Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron, ignoring history won’t make it go away. Getting over slavery and moving on is not an option for people of good will in the Caribbean, Europe and around the world.

The present is a living continuation of our historical past. Our history lives and breathes in our day-to-day lives and the legacies of our slave history are evident for all to see—persistent poverty, economic underdevelopment, high unemployment, public health crises, low self-esteem, alienation of youth etc. We must reclaim our history. We must own our history and the lessons from our history must guide us as we navigate our futures.

To understand our present-day realities in all their complexity we must learn to connect the dots in our collective history, dots that link the continents of Europe, Africa and the Americas.

The trans-Atlantic slave trade was the first huge economic globalization project in modern history and the enormous profits yielded from this global enterprise were invested in the industrialization and modernization of Western Europe and North America and in the enrichment of thousands of families in Britain and other European countries, Prime Minister David Cameron’s family being one of them. Chattel slavery and the Trans-Atlantic trade in captive Africans was a global economic enterprise, one of the first examples of globalization but at its core and in its essence it was also a profoundly criminal enterprise.

Over the past three decades or so, there have been a number of organizations, associations, countries, regions, and conferences on reparations for African slavery in the Americas. However, for the most part, the call for reparations was uncoordinated and fragmented among the aforementioned institutions and agencies.

Not until the UN conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia, and Related Intolerance in Durban, South Africa in 2001 that a sound platform for reparations became a serious issue.

Government officials, delegates, activists, representatives as well as academicians from the world over, including Africa, the Caribbean, North America, Latin America and Europe, attended this conference. Various positions for and against reparations were discussed and debated.

The Caribbean representation at the Durban conference included a number of prominent Pan-Africanists and reparations activists like Hilary Beckles and David Commission of Barbados and Dudley Thompson of Jamaica.

The payment of reparations by the former slave holding powers was perhaps the most contentious issue debated during the Durban conference. While the European nations and the United States were forced to concede that the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and chattel slavery were, indeed crimes against humanity, they argued erroneously that it would be unrealistic to discuss compensation for the victims of these historical crimes.

The Europeans lobbied furiously behind the scenes for support. It was closed, backroom politics in place of open historical and intellectual discourse. Truth was buried in the silence. The Caribbean delegates vigorously objected and led the opposition to this European negativity. They declared that the historical evidence showed that slave trading and slavery were understood as crimes then, as they are now, and as such are subject to reparatory justice.

What is sad and disappointing when reading the conversations for and against reparation is that the delegates who represented and spoke on behalf of former slave regimes (the United States and Britain) were of African descent. For example, Colin Powell, the US secretary of state, and Condolezza Rice, a national security advisor in the George Bush Administration, spoke out stridently against reparations.

But, in spite of the setbacks, the UN’s conference in Durban, SA did inject considerable new energy and excitement into the reparations movement across the globe and especially in the Caribbean and the United States.

However, this new energy evaporated quite swiftly in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center towers in New York which ushered in the so-called War on Terrorism in the US and around the world, followed by the invasion and occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan. This war on terrorism cast a chilling and intimidating atmosphere on reparations activism around the world. The reparations movement was lulled into a period of dormancy.

In July, 2013 at the CARICOM heads of government summit in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad all the region’s prime ministers and presidents passed a unanimous resolution to establish a CARICOM Reparations Commission under the chairmanship of Prof. Beckles and to set up national reparations commissions and committees in each of the CARICOM member states.

Two months later in September, 2013, the first regional reparations conference since the establishment of the Commission was held in St. Vincent and hosted by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, himself a long-time reparations advocate.

Over the next several months the momentum sparked by the historic resolution adopted at the Trinidad summit, followed by the successful St. Vincent conference picked up pace when St. Vincent’s PM Gonsalves delivered the keynote address at a Symposium on Democracy and Development in Africa and the Caribbean organized by the Institute of the Black World 21stCentury in October, 2013 in Washington, DC.

In October, 2013, the 2nd Regional Reparations Conference was held in Antigua and in April, 2014 a major reparations conference organized by the Institute of the Black World was organized at the Chicago State University.

On July 16th, 2014, I addressed the British Parliament in which I said, “the government of Great Britain, and other European states that are beneficiaries of enrichment from the enslavement of African people, the genocide of indigenous communities and the deceptive breach of contract and trust in respect of Indians and other Asians brought to the plantations under indenture have a case to answer in respect to reparatory justice.”

In September, 2014, SVG’s foreign minister Camillo Gonsalves, celebrated author and journalist Ta-Nehisi Coates and I addressed a packed reparations forum hosted by Cong. John Conyers, dean of the Congressional Black Caucus and author of HR40, the Reparations Study bill.

In April, 2015 the Caribbean Reparations Commission along with reparations and Pan African activists from across the region traveled to New York to participate in an International Reparations Conference organized by the US-based Institute of the Black World 21st Century.

This historic gathering brought together delegations from 22 countries in Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America and from 19 states across the US for three days of dialogue, information exchange and collective strategizing on how to re-energize and expand the global movement for reparatory justice in the 21st Century.

At this international conference, it was announced that a National African American Reparations Commission had been recently formed modeled on the CARICOM Reparations Commission and that a European Reparations Commission and similar formations in Britain and Canada were being organized.

In March, 2016, Barbados Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, who is the chair of the CARICOM Primeministerial Sub Committee on Reparations, sent a letter to the leaders of Great Britain and other former slave-holding European nations on behalf of his fellow CARICOM leaders calling on London and other European capitals to formally acknowledge the crimes of native genocide and African enslavement in the Caribbean and urging them to come to the negotiating table to hammer out a reparatory justice agreement. To date, CARICOM still waits for a formal response from the European powers.

In February, 2016, the Working Group of experts for the UN’s Decade for People of African Descent led by Mereille Fanon-France, daughter of the Martiniquan-born pshchiatrist and freedom fighter, Frantz Fanon, issued a report on their investigation into the human rights conditions in several African-American communities across the US.

The group of experts said it was “extremely concerned about the human rights situation of African Americans,” and it urged the US government to address the legacy of slavery with “reparatory justice,” a national human rights commission, and ongoing criminal justice reform.

“The colonial history, the legacy of enslavement, racial subordination and segregation, racial terrorism, and racial inequality in the US remains a serious challenge as there has been no real commitment to reparations and to truth and reconciliation for people of African descent,” it said at the conclusion of a 10-day trip to the United States.

On May 20th in a stirring speech on the occasion of Guyana’s 50th Anniversary of independence from British colonial rule, President David Granger said:

“The Caribbean is not begging for hand-outs or aid. The Caribbean is not soliciting sympathy. The Caribbean is not seeking favors. The Caribbean is demanding ‘reparative justiice’ for the greatest crime against humanity in the history of the world—the trans-Atlantic trade in captive Africans. The Caribbean’s case for reparative justice is righteous. The struggle for reparative justice will be long but every just cause is worth fighting for.”

Sisters and Brothers, the notion of reparatory or reparative justice as a viable and legitimate strategy for sustainable development is being embraced more and more by Caribbean governments and by a wide range of civil society organizations and public intellectuals throughout the region.

Our ancestors are calling on us to make this struggle for reparatory justice an imperative of our time.  When we demand “reparations now” we are discharging our moral responsibility to demand restitution and recompense for the unspeakable injustices inflicted on our ancestors by the brutal and inhuman system of chattel slave labour.

When we talk about reparations, we are speaking about repairing the horrendous damages to our people wrought by the crimes of chattel slavery and later by the crimes of colonialism and imperialism. Those who say to us that slavery was a thing of the past, that we should put it behind us and move on, are, in essence, asking us to devalue the sacrifices of our ancestors.

Our collective history does matter. Black and brown lives have always and continue to matter in the Caribbean, in the USA and across Latin America.

We in the Caribbean quite rightly concern ourselves with the challenges that freedom and independence are posing.  We are pre-occupied with the pressing problems of budget deficits and burdensome national debts, in some cases at levels larger than our gross domestic products, but in our search for solutions to these problems we must also recognize, analyze and understand these challenges within the broader historical context of the enormous social and economic deficits that we inherited from centuries of slavery and colonialism.

50 plus years ago, our former colonial masters left us a legacy in the Caribbean that can only be described as a “royal mess.” After sucking out the wealth that our enslaved and colonized forefathers and mothers created with their blood, sweat and tears, the colonialists left our countries with little or nothing upon which to build and develop prosperous and vibrant economies.

Having thus left us with this mess, we are now saying to the former European colonial powers that they have a moral responsibility as supposedly civilized and highly developed nations to come to the table and negotiate a partnership with us, one that will help us clean up the mess that they left behind.

These European powers have a case to answer in the courts of international public opinion and as countries that pride themselves as embodiments of integrity, democracy and respect for fundamental human rights, they must take seriously and respond adequately to the CARICOM demands as articulated in its 10-Point Reparations Program, a program that today enjoys the unanimous support of all the member states of CELAC (The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) and ALBA (The Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas).

Today, CARICOM awaits a positive response to the letters sent earlier this year to the heads of government in Britain, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden requesting that they meet with the heads of government in CARICOM to begin negotiations around the 10-Point reparations program.

The legacies of white supremacy and racism, both of which are vestiges of slavery and colonialism are still prevalent throughout our region and they continue to be serious impediments to the full realization and practice of democracy, racial equality and access to economic opportunity in our respective nation states and these vestiges must be confronted and expunged from our societies as we forge ahead with implementing reparatory justice.

Most African countries have followed the position of Caribbean countries but some have rejected the idea on the basis that there are pressing issues to be dealt with in Africa. Some African countries have taken a neutral position on reparation.

The United States and former slave regimes of Europe and the European Union have rejected reparation. They stated that they will not apologise or pay reparations for African slavery in the Americas because slavery was a legal institution, and therefore they should not be held accountable for a situation that occurred a long time ago. They argued also that slavery was too remote for any recuperative strategy.

The United States condemned African slavery but refused to accept one nation holding another financially liable for a historical situation that happened a long time ago. Britain has offered a statement of regret and deep sorrow but still refuses to apologise or pay reparation for African slavery in the Americas.

In a recent speech at the Harvard University School of Law, I said that I envision a day in the future when President Barack Obama, himself a graduate of Harvard Law, will join with CARICOM in its fight for reparations and will help to shape the 21st Century around the principles of reparatory justice.

The call for reparation is the newest common thread that binds Africa and the African Diaspora. Later this year the government of The Gambia, a country in Africa from whence countless numbers of enslaved Africans were shipped to the Americas, will host a reparations conference on its soil.

Indeed, the call for reparations will persist and will grow in the months and years ahead, and perhaps someday it will be decided in the international court of justice and the victimized peoples and nations who suffered from these crimes against humanity will be justly compensated.

What the Caricom Reparations Commission has done over the past three years is to help grow a regional initiative into the revival of a global movement for reparatory justice, one that will become the greatest political movement of the 21st Century.

The building of this global reparations movement will continue this weekend here in Atlanta and in the months ahead, the reparations conversation will move to other cities across the USA and in the Caribbean the reparations relay will continue to carry the torch of reparatory justice from country to country in the region.

In the months ahead, all of us working together must build a mighty international army of reparations advocates and activists. We must strengthen the inter-connections and inter-relations between the component parts of this emerging global reparations movement. We must learn from each other, influence each other, encourage each other and inspire each other. We will prevail and no matter how long it takes victory will be ours because our cause is a just and righteous cause and reparations is an idea whose time has come.

Forward Ever, Backward Never!!

Why Immigrants and Diasporas Cannot Easily Return Back Home

Human migration is a universal problem that is here to stay. Human beings, and even wild animals, move because they are usually trying to solve a problem. For instance, when the weather is getting bad, many animal species know how to migrate to avoid exposing themselves to environmental conditions that can threaten their existence. Certain animals that cannot migrate, hibernate to avoid the bad weather like winter! Wild animals which are unable to migrate nor fully hibernate, usually suffer during the rough season, and some even die!

When human beings move, they also have in mind the notion of finding a better life. I do not think many people move to a new place just to willingly expose themselves to detrimental conditions that will hurt or kill them, unless they are terrorists, which is a bad thing. However, because of political limitations, human beings do not have the freedom to migrate to wherever they would like. In most cases, people are restrained to their native countries and unable to move abroad because they lack finances, government approval, connections, vision, and support from family or friends. Usually, when human beings manage to leave their home country for another country, they do not easily return back, unless something threatens their dream abroad, or some better opportunities open up in their home country, or they are repatriated from their residence country back to their native country. Even so, those who are repatriated want to return back to the country they just came from!

When it comes to the diaspora of the developing countries, if stinginess, unforgiveness, and selfishness can be added to the already-complicated equations among the diaspora and those residing in the same country, most of the immigrants allow pride to get in their way and would prefer dying abroad than returning back to their native country. It is in this critical condition that most countries are begging their diasporas to give back or to invest in their development.

Nevertheless, a handful of educated people living in the Diaspora would like to return to their country of origin or country of residence, but in most cases, a very few organized structures exist to facilitate that type of movement. Some people don’t even know who to talk to or where to start in order to return to their home country. This is because many developed countries do not have a clear plan to integrate or incorporate their diaspora and returning immigrants into the development of their own country. Many immigrants have returned or have been returned to their home country, but have failed due to a lack of programs to help them integrate into their new environment. Numerous traveling agencies and businesses assist people in planning their travels, but very few specialize in helping diaspora members return to their home country even if it is for a short stay to contribute to their nation’s development. After arriving to a new country and being surprised by the many hurdles they have to overcome, once realizing all the obstacles, certain immigrants oftentimes want to return home but lack the funding to do so.

The problem is more complex for the educated people living abroad. Indeed, some diaspora members studied at a very high cost; some may have even acquired debts (e.g. student loan, cost of living abroad), and after graduation, they would like to return back to their home country, but unfortunately, they can’t afford it, because the salary they will make in their home country cannot allow them to pay their debt and have a decent life. Furthermore, if they return, they will likely not find the tools and resources to practice what they have learned. However, if someone (e.g. government, nonprofit) can assist them in paying off that debt and having a decent job, some diaspora members would love to return home. A solution must be found for this global problem.

In our next post, we will discuss what DiasporaEngager is doing to solve this complex problem. Please stay tuned! Meanwhile, you can join our efforts by registering a free account at: https://diasporaengager.com/miniRegister

Why and How the Global Diaspora Should Advocate for the Development of their Nations

To advocate for something is to plead or argue in favor of that thing. People and organizations usually advocate for causes they care for. For instance, to push their agendas forward, several nations, institutions, and organizations hire professionals that advocate on their behalf for things critical to their well-being (e.g. security, economy, politics, and development). Why does diaspora advocacy  for development matter?

While almost every country has an interest in others, millions of people are moving every year to new countries or places without being really engaged in the development of their home country as it should. At the same time, the potential of the diaspora is usually ignored even in their new country of residence. With the globalization of the world’s economy and the increasing human migration, the potential of the global diaspora is needed more than ever.

Usually, because they know more about their country of residence than their fellow citizens living in their home country, the global Diaspora can better advocate for their people at key institutions or places in their country of residence. By doing so, advocacy service providers will have a channel to reach the customers that were unknown to them, whereas the Diasporas and their people will finally know who to talk to and how to solve their advocacy problems based on their respective realities.

Each country should have advocacy centers where they should be training and educating their diaspora in helping them carry their developmental agendas. Governmental agencies (e.g. consulates and embassies) should be highly involved in this kind of advocacy initiatives. Unfortunately, the consulates and embassies of many developing countries are mostly known for delivering visas and passports or for negotiating deals that can be better won if their diaspora can be tactically more involved! Several intellectuals living in the diaspora have complained that they never receive a letter or a newsletter from the embassy or the consulate of their country trying to engage them in development conversations. Therefore, the potential of these diaspora pundits is ignored by their own nations that nominate unqualified diplomats to negotiate very complex issues that they (the diplomats) were not trained for. At the same time, the international diaspora neglect to make the first move by approaching their country to start discussions that can develop them.

Normally, in every country, there should be advocacy institutes at least at university levels to help harvest the potential of the professionals in the diaspora as a positive force that can enlighten people and unleash development. By doing so, more advocacy for development jobs can be created in each country and also among the diaspora. The educated people living in the diaspora must be motivated to know that their country of origin needs them no less than their current country of residence where they are sometimes strategically forced to pay a lot for their education and integration before starting to pay a high interest for their loans without forgetting their taxes!

ABCs of a Realistic African Diaspora Engagement

Almost every African country is trying to engage with its diaspora. However, in general, when it comes to how to convince the African diaspora to work with their country of origin, most of the methods used are not working. One of the first things that comes to the mind of most Africans living in Africa is to ask the diaspora to help them, forgetting that no one is helping the diaspora for free. In contrast, the first thing that enters the mind of most diasporas is not how to help Africa, but whether Africa knows why they have left the continent and what they are doing/facing abroad!

Do I need to underline that many African immigrants have left the Black Continent because they were chased away by some leaders and sorcerers who, today, are begging them to invest back home? What can’t I say about the massive and forced migration of Africans to America during one of the darkest and wicked ages of human history a few centuries ago? I even wonder how many people realize that the largest African diaspora population is in Brazil! Most Africans leaders are not trying to better know and understand their diaspora before asking them to come invest their money in Africa. Sometimes, I even wonder how many African Professionals in the Diaspora are richer than the African leaders who are begging them for money. Worst, some African leaders act as if their diaspora have forgotten the wounds they have suffered in Africa before finding a way to flee the continent of Kwame Nkrumah. Undoubtedly, a lot of basic first steps needs to be addressed in order to start aligning the mentality of Africa with that of its diaspora. Otherwise, the synergistic coalition needed for African Diaspora Engagement  (www.DiasporaEngager.com/Africa) will continue lacking!

The migration of the diasporas from their home country to their new country of residence is a kind of “divorce or break up” with their roots. Some Africans have had some bad experiences with their own people that they do not even want to reverse their “divorce” with the continent of Nelson Mandela and of Prof Brice Sinsin. Other immigrants have been highly afflicted by the people in their home country that they do not want to hear any request coming from them. No intelligible man dates a woman by starting to ask about anything that is supposed to be last. Moreover, no reasonable man can win back his ex-wife or ex-girlfriend, and vice versa, by starting the conversation with a list of requests or a list of things that the ex must do. Sadly, certain political leaders who orchestrated the migration of their own people cling to power and then, ask their diaspora that they and their ancestors have hunted to come and invest in their country. These types of diaspora engagement cannot work, particularly in the African context where people seem to pull each other toward the bottom of the misery pit. At the same time, many foreign countries are taking advantage of the divergences among the Africans!

African Diaspora Engagement Must be like a Love Story. Why? check out www.DiasporasNews.com.

African Diaspora Engagement Must be like a Love Story. Why? Check out www.DiasporaEngager.com/Africa

The involvement of the diaspora in the development of their home country must follow certain basic rules of courtesy. I believe that Africa and its diaspora need to start “dating” each other in a format similar to that of a man trying to win back his ex-wife or ex-girlfriend, and vice versa. However, while some people that have broken up can easily find new loves, it is not easy for most diaspora to quickly forget their roots and embrace the culture of their new country. This implies that many opportunities still exist to start engaging the African Diasporas in a dialogue with their homeland which dearly needs them. For this dialog to succeed, it must not begin with begging the diaspora to come back to Africa or to invest in Africa. Similarly, the diaspora should not inaugurate this dialog by requesting that the African political leaders change overnight. The African Diasporas need to know that, though their new life abroad has changed the way they used to think, many of their brothers and sisters in Africa still act as if they have no brain or if they cannot get rid of the legacy of the colonial ignorance and slavery. Therefore, the African Diaspora must be tolerant with their own people who need to be willing to realign and renew their mentality so that synergistic coalitions can be fostered in a win-win framework for the advancement of our dear Africa rather than allowing the so-called super powers to continue poaching their rich lands and mines like the cake of their grandmother or like their heritage or like the field of their slaves that they are still trying to enslave with diverse model of modern technology, negotiation, aids, partnership, and legislation!!!

Please, don’t get me wrong. I am not saying that every African diaspora engagement effort has failed. Indeed, several people and organizations have successfully engaged with Africa and its diaspora in a positive way. Many Africans living in Africa and in the diaspora have also contributed to the development of their homeland. We take advantage of this opportunity to thank those Africans, African diasporas, their friends, partners and stakeholders who have made a positive difference in Africa.

However, after spending years working on the African problems and writing books on African Development, I can conclude that, when it comes to engaging the African diaspora in the development of Africa, ten questions need to be asked first:

  1. Who are the African Diaspora?
  2. Who is who among the African Diaspora?
  3. Where are they living?
  4. What are they doing?
  5. What problems are they facing?
  6. Why did they leave Africa?
  7. How can Africa help them to heal some of their wounds?
  8. What can we do to forgive each other and embrace a new journey of partnership?
  9. How can we partner rather than how can they help us?
  10. How can we initiate this partnership without bringing up money as the first issue?

And these questions must be answered without forgetting the millions of African-Americans, (descendants of the slaves or African Descent individuals of descendants of former slaves), whom some stupid and/or naive Leaders think are not worthy to be called African Diaspora! It is after these questions are sincerely addressed that Africa and its Diaspora can start talking about who can do what for who? Without following these simple strategic steps, the African diaspora will just keep creating thousands of African Diaspora Associations, while the African Political Leaders will keep creating more Political Parties in Africa, yet, sinking Africa, remaining at odds and, therefore, unable to work together to create positive change. How to Engage the African Diaspora in the Development of Africa?

How to Engage the African Diaspora in the Development of Africa?

Involving the International Diaspora in Education, Research, and the Development of their Countries

Nations develop themselves because of the research, innovation, invention, and creativity of their people. Consequently, the poverty of certain nations can be linked to the education of their citizens. For instance, the gap of knowledge and development between universities in developed countries and those in developing countries is very huge because of the quality of their research, the environment, and the lack of resources. Even within any country, significant differences are found between the services provided at different educational institutions.

If the developing countries must invest in their research institutions to reach the level of the research being done in certain developed countries, they must allocate a significant amount of their national budget. Unfortunately, due to their economy, most developing countries cannot afford that kind of spending. To resolve some of the challenging problems affecting education today, collaborative efforts must be strategically made. For instance, many governmental and private institutions are increasingly requiring universities to collaborate regionally or worldwide before winning certain grants and fellowships. While the under-developed educational institutions have several collaboration opportunities, they lack the information to find the right collaborators. Similarly, numerous institutions in developed countries can provide their expertise to others, but the connection is missing. When brain drain is added to the equation, the solution is more difficult for the countries that are negatively affected.

Involving students, staff, and faculty in diaspora engagement.

Helping students, staff, and faculty to easily find peers and schools that have opportunities for them.

Because they better know the context of their home countries than the foreigners, the global diaspora must play a key role in helping their country of origin to alleviate some of their educational problems.Without a doubt, the potential of many educated people of most developing countries is not being well used abroad, while their native countries are neither crafting strategies to harvest that potential for their benefit. As an example, someone who obtained a doctorate in the USA or in the UK, is likely to have some advanced technological knowledge and tools than someone who got the same degree in Africa or in other third world countries. Usually, most of the top scientists from the developing countries that are trained abroad do not want to return back to their native countries to use their skills and knowledge to advance their people and their nations. While many developing countries are begging their brains to return home to build their nations, several developed countries where those brains live are also forging much more powerful strategies to encourage brain drain. Knowing that it is very difficult, even sometimes impossible, to force people to move to a new place, including going abroad or returning back home, a new type of strategy is very much needed to solve the educational problems of the global diaspora in a sustainable way. Many institutions are trying to tackle this issue, but most of them appear to be advancing agendas that conflict with the real solution! Global and unselfish efforts that are not solely based on monetary transactions are much needed to fully help the international immigrants to properly develop themselves and in return help their country of origin to improve their scholastic services.

DiasporaEngager is addressing this complex challenge related to the international diaspora engagement in education, research, development and much more. To overcome this international challenge, DiasporaEngager does not focus only of higher education, but on many levels of education (post graduate, graduate, undergraduate, high school, place of apprenticeship, vocational education, etc.) where knowledge is dispensed. Diaspora Engagement in Science and Technology

Scientists and researchers are needed everywhere to innovate and create new things that can help solve the world’s growing problems. In most developing countries, several top intellectuals tend to migrate to developed countries, seeking better professional opportunities.

With the massive migration of the educated people from their home country to other countries (brain drain), diaspora engagement in science, technology, and research is needed more than ever.  Unfortunately, it is not easy for the professionals living in the diaspora to network with their home country and with their country of residence to offer their professional skills to address scientific and technological problems. Sometimes, the diaspora members are less paid in their country of residence, whereas their home country does not know how to tap into the potential of their educated expatriates?

Diaspora engagement in science and technology should not be only about granting work visas to the best international scientists so that they stay abroad after their graduation. Diaspora implication in science and engineering should not be only about asking the diaspora to return to their country of ancestry! Engaging the international diaspora in the development of their countries should be more than the partisan political debates regarding the migration of the intellectuals from developing countries to America or Europe.

To sustainably involve the world’s diasporas in the advancement of their nations, efforts must be made so that the diasporas serve as a bridge between their country of origin and their current country of residence in a win-win framework. For instance, the diasporas should be informing their home country about scientific opportunities in their country of residence and vice versa. Meanwhile, scientific institutions (e.g. schools, universities, ministers/departments of education) in each country need to keep their diasporas up to date about scientific and educational news, needs, and opportunities. As the professional diaspora members living in developed countries are likely to be more alerted about scientific advancements in their areas of expertise, it would be more advantageous for every country to create a national pipeline between their intellectuals and their diaspora accordingly. Although certain countries are trying to create a department specialized in diaspora affairs, their local efforts cannot have a significant impact if each diaspora keeps working alone.
